Games equipment purchase scam probe not stopped: Jharkhand DGP

Ranchi, Feb 13 (PTI) Jharkhand police chief Neyaz Ahmedtoday denied reports that the probe into allegations withregard to purchase of sports equipment for the National Gameshad been halted till February 27 when the multi-sporting eventconcludes here.

"The probe is on. It has not been stopped," the DGP, whoalso oversees the Vigilance Bureau, told PTI when askedwhether the bureau had stopped its investigation till the endof the Games.

The Vigilance Bureau had on October 6 last year lodged anFIR against Jharkhand Olympic Association President R K Anand,its General Secretary H M Hashmi, Treasurer Madhukant Pathakand former sports director P C Mishra on the complaint ofJharkhand Wrestling Association general secretary BholanathSingh.

Hitting back, the JOA working committee had immediatelyexpelled Singh and de-affiliated JWA for filing the complaint.

However, Singh not only organised senior nationalwrestling championship in December last year but also attendedyesterday''s IOA annual general body meeting here.

In his complaint, Singh had alleged that there was"massive financial irregularities" in the purchase ofequipment and construction of infrastructure at Mega SportsComplex, now hosting National Games.

He had also leveled allegations that purchase of sportsequipment was in excess of actual requirement and "without anytender".
