Gaming Fever grips Mumbaikars at SKOAR! 2008

Mumbai, Jan 25 (UNI) SKOAR! 2008 presented by Logitech and powered by Intel Core2 Quad began at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex, here today.

The three-day interactive gaming expo is showcasing the acceptability and future of gaming in India.

Dr Pramath Sinha, founder of 9.9 Media said, ''With a 75 per cent growth rate, the gaming industry in India is one of the fastest growing segments of Media. SKOAR! as India's only gaming magazine for gamers and by gamers has pioneered and nurtured this space for the last five years and will continue to do so through its many avatars - the magazine, events, website.'' The event features PC and console gaming peripherals from Logitech, the latest Core2 Quad processors from Intel, new games by Sony and Electronic Arts, state-of-the art graphic cards and GPUs from XFX and NVIDIA, high capacity drives from Western Digital.

SKOAR 2008! gives an opportunity for gamers to check out the ultimate gaming experience across five different zones - PC, Console, Mobile, Digital Lifestyle, and Casual Gaming. Gamers will also be entertained by live performances and impromptu contests at the Centre Stage.

Electronic Arts is holding the Crysis Regional Tournament, wherein eight winners will be selected, who will form Team India, representing the country for the finals of the tournament to be held in Singapore on March 15.

Sony will unveil its first public demonstration of the Buzz, a party quiz game for the PlayStation 2. Also at the Sony booth will be Singstar Bollywood, the Indian version of the phenomenally popular Singstar. This is a karaoke game in which participants are given points based on the quality of their singing, pitch, tempo, lyrics, and so on.
