Ganesh Asirvatham wins iGate intl scrabble tourney

Bangalore, Jan 13 (UNI) Ganesh Asirvatham, an English teacher from Malaysia, won the Fourth iGate International Scrabble Tournament here today.

Wellington Jighere and Ayorinde Saidu from Nigeria won the second and third prizes respectively.

As many as 26 international players and 33 Indians vied for the honours in the three-day championship, which began on January 11.

The tournament followed the King of the Hill (KOTH) format. Word source was the Collins Scrabble Tournament and Club Wordlist, the official dictionary reference for World Scrabble Championship.

On his win, Asirvatham said ''it's a pleasure to win the fourth iGATE International Scrabble Tournament, in which leading scrabble players from around the world participated.'' UNI MSP AJ RKM RAI2051
