Gangjee leads Indian challenge in Thailand

Chiang Rai, Thailand, Jun 25 (UNI) Rahil Gangjee along with 11 other Indian golfers will vie for the honours in the 300,000 dollar Singha Thailand PGA Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed Santiburi Country Club here starting tomorrow.

Gangjee, will accompanied by Asian Tour regulars, Digvijay Singh,and Gaganjeet Bhullar.

Young champs like Anirban Lahiri, Ranjit Singh, and Himmat Rai will also compete in the tourney.

However, there will be two Ranjit Singhs in the fray, with the senior Ranjit from Chandigarh, also making a rare trip out of India on the Asian Tour.

Other Indians in the fray are veteran Firoze Ali, seasoned pro Arjun Singh and Amandeep Johl, the winner of 2002 Hero Honda Indian Masters Harmeet Kahlon and Gurbaaz Mann.

The 41-year-old Local star Prayad Marksaeng will go for the third victory in a month this week.

Prayad has won successive events in Japan and sprinkled besides a seventh and third place finish in his previous two Asian Tour starts.

Another Asian Danny Chia from Malaysia will be looking for a good performance here to boost his confidence ahead of British Open to be held next month.

Meanwhile, three time winner on the Asian tour Australian Terry Pilkadaris will lead the International challenge along with other golfers.
