Gaurav, Rovin in quarters in Snooker invitational tourney

Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) Gaurav Prabhu and Rovin D'Souza fashioned contrasting wins to advance to the quarter-finals in the Rexello Castors-Islam Gymkhana Open Handicap&Invitation Snooker Tournament 2007 at the Islam Gymkhana here today.

Prabhu (+50) ended Ramesh Sadarangani's (+50) campaign when he rallied to an exciting 2-1 win in the best-of-three frames contest.

In contrast, D'Souza (+40) sailed past Zubin Vazifdar (+40) 103-76, 95-55.

In absorbing second round ties that ended in two upsets, Zulfikar Faria (+55) rallied past Manoj Kasare (+50) 2-1, with the second and third frames ending in black-ball finishes, while Kaizad Dandiwala (+55) surprised Amit Sapru (+45) 2-1 and Neil Vithlani (+30) overcame Mahesh Jagdale (+35) 2-0 that included a significant break of 52 in the second frame.
