London, Mar.10 : Troubled former England soccer star legend Paul "Gazza" Gascoigne has said that he recovered physically and mentally by playing computer games against his son while admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Durham.
Gazza, 40, was released on Friday after three weeks at the secure Middleton St. George Hospital. He was sectioned after a two-month drink and drug binge.
He revealed to The Sun that playing on his Nintendo Wii against ten-year-old Regan over the Internet helped his recovery.
He said: "It's good fun. I've been playing Regan at ten-pin bowling on the Wii games. He challenged me."
Before being admitted to Middleton St George Hospital, Co Durham, the star had spent weeks locked in a Newcastle hotel playing on his Wii.
Gascoigne was last night relaxing at dad John's home in Dunston, Gateshead.
John, 62, said of his son's release: "It's good to have him back. He's sleeping a lot - he needs a lot of rest to help him recover."
