Jamie George Among Five England Players Missing Six Nations Opener Against Ireland Due To Injuries

Jamie George will not participate in England's Six Nations opener against Ireland due to a hamstring injury. He joins four other players facing fitness issues as the team prepares for the match in Dublin on February 1.

Jamie George will not participate in England's Six Nations opener against Ireland due to a hamstring injury. This setback occurred during Saracens' Champions Cup match against Castres, forcing him to withdraw from the pre-tournament training camp. England's campaign begins on February 1 in Dublin, facing the defending champions, with additional injuries complicating their preparations.

First-choice scrum-half Alex Mitchell is also dealing with an injury. He sustained a knee problem during a game against Munster. Despite this, Mitchell will join the training camp in Girona as England hopes he can recover in time for the match against Ireland. His presence is crucial given his absence from the autumn Tests due to a neck injury.

George and Four Others Out for Six Nations Opener

In addition to George and Mitchell, three other players have picked up injuries while playing for their clubs. Jack van Poortvliet from Leicester Tigers, Alex Coles from Northampton Saints, and Alex Dombrant from Harlequins are all dealing with issues that could affect their availability for the tournament.

To address these challenges, several players have been called up to join the squad as preparations commence at England's training base. Curtis Langdon of Northampton Saints, Arthur Clark from Gloucester Rugby, Ben Spencer of Bath Rugby, Henry Pollock from Northampton Saints, and Raffi Quirke of Sale Sharks are among those included.

The updated squad list includes both forwards and backs who will be part of England's Six Nations preparations. Among the forwards are Fin Baxter (Harlequins), Ollie Chessum (Leicester), Arthur Clark (Gloucester), Luke Cowan-Dickie (Sale), Chandler Cunningham-South (Harlequins), Ben Curry (Sale), Tom Curry (Sale), Theo Dan (Saracens), Ben Earl (Saracens), Ellis Genge (Bristol), Joe Heyes (Leicester), Ted Hill (Bath), Maro Itoje (Saracens), Curtis Langdon (Northampton), George Martin (Leicester), Asher Opoku-Fordjour (Sale), Henry Pollock (Northampton), Bevan Rodd (Sale), Will Stuart (Bath) and Tom Willis (Saracens).

The backs include Oscar Beard (Harlequins), Elliot Daly (Saracens), Fraser Dingwall (Northampton), George Ford (Sale), Tommy Freeman (Northampton), Ollie Lawrence (Bath), Cadan Murley (Harlequins), Raffi Quirke (Sale), Harry Randall (Bristol), Tom Roebuck (Sale), Henry Slade (Exeter), Ollie Sleightholme (Northampton), Fin Smith (Northampton), Marcus Smith (Harlequins) and Freddie Steward from Leicester.

This reshuffled squad reflects England's efforts to adapt amid injury setbacks as they prepare for a challenging Six Nations campaign. The team aims to overcome these hurdles and perform strongly against formidable opponents like Ireland.
