Ferrari fined $100,000 by race stewards

By Anmolg

Ferrari have been fined $100,000 by race stewards for breaching sporting regulations after appearing to implement team orders during the German Prix.

The Italian team has been fined for Massa slowing down and letting pass Alonso who is in contention of the World Championship as per orders of team which is not allowed according to FIA rules.

However the result of the race, won by Alonso from Massa, is unaffected.

Ferrari finished on a high, with Alonso winning the race and Massa finishing just few seconds behind him to make it one-two finish in the German grand prix.
Homeboy Sebastian Vettel who started from pole finished behind Massa after a dreadful start, which let off both the Ferrari drivers to overtake him and take the lead.

Ferrari insisted that the incident was 'a driver decision' and no instruction was given to Massa.

The fine is the maximum a steward is allowed to impose.

Ferrari have also been found guilty of breaching the sporting code, which states that "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition, or to the interests of motorsport generally" can be punished according to BBC report.
