Germany's world cupper to lay stone for Bengal-Bayern FC academy

Kolkata, Nov 4 (UNI) Germany's world cupper and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge will be in the city to lay the foundation for BengalFC-Bayern Football academy at Burdwan next week.

Rummenigge will lay the foundation on November 12 at Burdwan, about 110 km north of this city, seen as next step to foster bond between Germany and India and promotion of soccer, indianfootball.com reported today.

'' This is the next step in the good relationship between two countries after the exceptional reception our team received in Kolkata in May, '' Rummenigge was quoted as saying.

'' We had talks in May when a delegation of Bayern visited Burdwan to have a look at the possible spot for the academy, a brainchild of West Bengal Industries Minister Nirupam Sen, '' said the Germany's celebrated striker.

Bayern have been working at the project to help in the development of Indian talents and officially start after laying the foundation of the academy next week.

FC Bayern will keep their committed target to help Bengal and Indian soccer, Rummenigge was quoted in the website.
