Ghei, Gurbaaz finish tied 22nd at Bangkok Open

Bangkok, June 10 (UNI) Gaurav Ghei and Gurbaaz Mann's even par and two over final round performances were not enough to fetch them a top 20 finish in the Bangkok Airways Open at Koh Samui here today.

Both of them ended the tournament at tied 22nd and collected 3,240 dollars for their efforts.

Mann began the final day at tied 15th while Ghei was able to maintain his overnight 22nd spot.

Meanwhile, Rahil Gangjee went two-over 73 and Digvijay returned one-over 72 and both finished at tied 35th for a total tally of four-over 288 in the 300,000 dollar event at the Santiburi Samui Country Club.

Kolkata pro SSP Chowrasia, who began the day at tied 15th, slipped down several rungs at tied 40th after a horrendous seven-over 78 final round and aggregate of five over 289.

Arjun Singh had to settle at tied 46th, still one place higher from yesterday's, after a two-over 73 final round and aggregate of seven-over 291.

Korean Lee Sung registered his maiden triumph on the Asian Tour after a steady even-par 71 in his final stretch to follow up his course record 62 in the third round.

With a winning total of 16-under-par 268 and top prize of 47,550 dollars, he finished three strokes ahead of local star Prayad Marksaeng who carded a 66 in lone second place.

Five strokes behind was Thai youngster Prom Meesawat who carded a 68 as he claimed tied third place alongside Japan's Taichiro Kiyota who shot a 66. Singapore's Mardan Mamat was even-par for the day and claimed fifth spot after a 275 total.

Australia's Mitchell Brown matched the course record when he shot a 62 in the final round but ended his campaign in tied 15th place after a 280 total alongside Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee who was even-par for the day.
