Giannis Antetokounmpo expressed his determination to achieve more in basketball after surpassing 20,000 points in the NBA. This milestone was reached during a game against the Dallas Mavericks, where the Milwaukee Bucks triumphed 137-107. Antetokounmpo became the sixth-youngest player to achieve this feat. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "I'm proud of the journey, but I have so much more to give."
The significant milestone was achieved in the third quarter when Antetokounmpo scored 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Upon returning to the bench, he received congratulations from teammate Damian Lillard, who also reached 20,000 points last December. Lillard remarked on the achievement by saying, "It is a select group of guys that for a decade-plus have just been putting it together every year getting better."

Lillard further elaborated on what it takes to reach such a milestone. "To get to 20,000 points is not just being a guy that has opportunity," he noted. "You got to keep getting better. You got to go against the best defenders." His comments highlighted the dedication required to maintain such high performance over time.
Antetokounmpo acknowledged the significance of his achievement by stating, "It's a lot of points." He admired players like Kevin Durant and LeBron James for their scoring prowess. Despite turning 30 in December, he remains focused on future goals. When asked about reaching 30,000 points, he confidently replied, "One thousand percent. I'll get there."
Despite reaching this impressive milestone, Antetokounmpo emphasised that winning is more important than individual scoring records. He stated, "I don't think it counts in your legacy if you score 25,000 or 27 or 30,000. Winning counts more." His focus remains on improving his game and contributing effectively to his team's success.
As he continues his career at age 30, Antetokounmpo is committed to evolving as a player. He said he's becoming more efficient and effective while still having much to learn. His dedication to growth underscores his ambition to continue making significant contributions on the court.
