Gill assures funding assistance to promote sports in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) The Union ministry of youth Affairs and Sports has assured the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide liberal assistance for promoting sports activities in the state.

This assurance was given by Union Minister for youth Affairs and Sports M S Gill, who stressed the need that special attention be given towards rural areas which lack infrastructure.

He said rural areas should take to football which needs nominal sports infrastructure.

Mr. Gill added that he was impressed by the multi-faced programmes displayed by the youth from different parts of the valley.

He exuded confidence that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir would make dent at the national level sports arena.

He called upon the management of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) to constitute more sports clubs in rural areas so that the hidden talent is channelised for the overall development of the society, state and the country. .
