Pukhraj Singh Gill Maintains Top-10 Position At Bharath Classic 2025 Amidst Strong Competition

Pukhraj Singh Gill secured a Top-10 position at the $500,000 Bharath Classic 2025, co-sanctioned by IGPL and Asian Tour. He finished the second round with a score of 70, maintaining his competitive edge.

In the ongoing Bharath Classic 2025, co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and IGPL, Pukhraj Singh Gill maintained his position in the top ten. Despite struggling with his irons on the front nine, he managed to secure pars and avoid any significant setbacks. On the back nine, Gill achieved three birdies against one bogey, resulting in a score of 70, placing him tied for seventh.

Korean golfer Wooyoung Cho leads the tournament after carding a second consecutive 66, bringing him to 12-under. He is closely followed by compatriot Heemin Chang at 11-under. Cho's performance included a series of birdies from holes six to seventeen without any dropped shots. This strong showing positions him as a favourite for his first Asian Tour victory.

Gill in Top-10 at Bharath Classic 2025

Gill, who was tied for second after an impressive first round of 66, added a 2-under 70 in the second round. This brought his total to 8-under at the halfway point. He shares this position with amateur Ishaan Chawhan and several other notable players. Gill expressed satisfaction with his overall play but noted that his irons were not as effective as on the first day.

"My hitting was even better than the first day when I scored 66, but today my irons didn’t work well. I had mid-range putts for birdies from 15-20 feet and could not hole them for birdies. But at 8-under on this course I am in the picture and there are two more days to go," said Gill.

Amateur golfer Ishaan Chawhan continued to impress with rounds of 67 and 69, placing him alongside Gill at tied-seventh. Meanwhile, Shaurya Binu delivered an outstanding second round of 66 after an initial round of 72. His performance included nine birdies against three bogeys, marking a strong debut on the main Asian Tour.

Yuvraj Sandhu also made significant progress with a remarkable round of 66 featuring seven birdies and one bogey. This effort elevated him to tied-14th place along with Ajeetesh Sandhu, who faced challenges towards the end of his round but finished strong with a birdie.

Tournament Highlights and Key Moments

The tournament saw two players achieve holes-in-one: Harold William aced the par-three eleventh using a pitching wedge, while Harendra Gupta achieved this feat on the par-three fifth with a six iron. Both players are currently five under par.

This week's event is crucial for players aiming to improve their standings in the Asian Tour's Order of Merit or secure spots in future tournaments through IGPL rankings. The cut was set at two-over-par, allowing 72 players to advance to the final rounds.

Upcoming Rounds and Tournament Context

The Bharath Classic is part of both the Asian Tour's penultimate season event and IGPL's calendar. It offers significant opportunities for players seeking to enhance their career prospects through improved rankings or qualification for upcoming events like the International Series India in 2026.

Aman Raj, leading the IGPL Order of Merit, secured his place in weekend play at T0-31 following rounds of 73 and 68. Meanwhile, young golfers Kartik Singh and Veer Ganapathy missed the cut despite their efforts.
