Gill takes over as Youth Affairs and Sports Minister

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) M S Gill today took over as Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Youth Affairs and Sports.

After assuming office, Mr Gill interacted with the senior officials of the Ministry.

Gill was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in 2004. He has served as an Election Commissioner from 1995 to 96 and later on as Chief Election Commissioner from December 1996 to June 2001.

Mr Gill, a former IAS officer, has also served as secretary in various ministries.

A Padma Vibhushan recipient Mr Gill has authored a book ''An Indian Success story : Agriulture and Cooperation in Punjab'' and served on a world Bank project on agriculture and infrastructure in Nigeria between 1981 and 1984.
