Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who will represent the new team, American Gambits, shared his excitement about the competition as he spoke to the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League media.

"The Global Chess League is unique in allowing team owners to draft players, which makes me feel like a professional NBA player," Duda remarked, "It's a fantastic platform for players to elevate the sport by showcasing high-level chess. I'm thrilled to participate and aim to contribute to the Global Chess League's success and the overall growth of chess."

Duda, the 2021 FIDE World Cup champion, will join top players such as Hikaru Nakamura and Bibisara Assaubayeva on the American Gambits roster. Speaking of the competition, Duda mentioned, "Playing among the best allows me to sharpen my skills while competing at the highest level. But it's another round of elite chess, and I'm sure we will deliver plenty of excitement for the fans."

The teams will compete in 10 matches through a double round-robin format, with match victories determined by a best-of-six board scoring system. Reflecting on the league's innovative approach, the 2018 Polish Champion said, "This format truly promotes chess worldwide, making it more exciting. I believe it will inspire more people to join the global chess community."

On his plans for London, Duda revealed, "My focus is on helping my team win. I'm ready to play my best chess and contribute to our victory. It's also my first time in London, so I'm excited to explore the city while balancing my professional goals."
