Goa records a 26-run victory over Haryana

Margao, Nov 6 (UNI) Medium pacer Robin D'Souza (4 for 59) and left arm spinner Shadab Jakati's (4 for 94) magnificent bowling enabled Goa to record a 26 run victory over Haryana on the last day of the four-day Ranji Plate B cricket match being played here at MCC Ground today.

Haryana chasing the target of 241, failed to negotiate the attack and fell to the guiles of pace and spin attack from Goa giving away wickets at regular intervals. They managed to score 220 in 88 overs at the loss of 10 wickets.

Goa gained five points for this match. They will be playing their second match at the same venue against Railways from November 15.

Haryana resuming at the overnight score of 6 for 1 with Mithun Birala (2) and Gaurav Vashita (4) played cautiously and yielded a 85-run partnership for the second wicket before Birala was stumped by Ratra on a Shadab Jakati delivery. He scored 37 in 118 balls.

After adding another two runs to the total, Vashita was caught by Ratra off a Ryan D'Souza delivery on 47, with the score board reading 87 for 3 at lunch. Vashita's knock included seven fours and came in 116 balls.

The next two wickets, Sumit Sharma (13) and Sunil Vishwanathan (11), fell in quick succession at the score of 112 for 5. Later, Sachin Rana and captain Joginder Sharma steadied the innings with a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket before Joginder Sharma was bowled out by Robin D' Souza on 16 at the score of 162 for 6. The last three wickets, Sachin Rana (67), Amit Mishra (19) and Priyank Huda (0), fell adding only 58 runs to the total, taking it to 220 for 10 in 88 overs.

Sachin Rana's gritty knock was laced with seven fours and two sixes in 110 balls.
