Russian Winter Olympians banned by IOC

Lausanne, November 28: Five Russian athletes, including Sochi 2014 gold-medal bobsledders Aleksei Negodailo and Dmitrii Trunenkov have been banned by the IOC for anti-doping violations.

Silver-medal biathletes Yana Romanova and Olga Vilukhina, and skeleton athlete Sergei Chudino have also been sanctioned in the first decisions to come out of the Oswald Commission.

The commission has been established to re-test samples provided by Russian athletes during the Sochi Games, which was tainted by a state-sponsored program of hiding positive tests.

Negodailo and Trunenkov were members of the champion four-man bobsled team, while Romanova and Vilukhina competed in the biathlon relay.

Vilukhina also won silver in the 7.5km biathlon.
