Alex Fitzpatrick Responds to Matt Fitzpatrick's ‘Untidy' Jokes Ahead of PGA Championship 2026

Alex Fitzpatrick arrived at Aronimink Golf Club this week carrying more than just momentum ahead of the PGA Championship.

The younger Fitzpatrick brother also arrived with a fresh round of playful family banter.

Alex Fitzpatrick Jokes About Brother Matt s Untidy Claims as Fitzpatrick Brothers Chase PGA Championship Glory

During media appearances following Monday's practice rounds, Alex laughed off comments made earlier by his older brother Matt Fitzpatrick, who had jokingly suggested that Alex was untidy around the house.

"Here we go again," Alex said with a laugh while responding to the topic during a media interaction.

"Hold up. I'm a normal brush-my-teeth-at-night guy," Alex joked. "He's got all these different things on the side of the counter and stuff."

The exchange added a lighter touch to what is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing sibling storylines heading into the season's second major championship.

Fitzpatrick Brothers Enter PGA Championship in Strong Form

The Fitzpatrick brothers head into the PGA Championship as genuine contenders after impressive recent performances on the PGA Tour.

The pair recently teamed up to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April, becoming one of the rare sibling combinations to capture a PGA Tour team title.

Alex joked that sharing a trophy proved easier than sharing a home.

The victory marked a major step forward for the 27-year-old Englishman, who has rapidly climbed into the spotlight after years of being compared with his major-winning brother.

Since the Zurich Classic triumph, Alex Fitzpatrick has recorded a tied-ninth finish and a fourth-place finish in signature PGA Tour events, earning nearly $2.84 million during that stretch.

At the recent Truist Championship at Quail Hollow, Alex even entered Sunday with the lead before a costly double bogey on the 17th hole ended his title hopes.

Still, the younger Fitzpatrick viewed the week as another sign of growth.

"I think if I looked back two months ago and someone said you'd finish fourth at the Truist Championship, I'd have kicked myself if I was crushed," Alex said.

"I was disappointed in just that I wish I'd have scored a little better. Overall, it was a great week and I have no complaints."

Matt Fitzpatrick Also Enjoying Impressive 2025 Season

While Alex's rise has grabbed attention, Matt Fitzpatrick continues to build another strong season of his own.

The 2022 U.S. Open champion has already secured three PGA Tour victories in 2025, including a playoff win over world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at Harbour Town earlier this year.

Matt's career remains deeply connected to major-championship success. He famously won both the 2013 U.S. Amateur and the 2022 U.S. Open at Brookline's The Country Club in Massachusetts.

Now, however, some of the attention around the Fitzpatrick family has started shifting toward Alex.

'I'm Probably Known as Alex's Brother Now'

For years, Alex Fitzpatrick regularly faced questions about Matt's achievements and career success.

This PGA Championship week, the dynamic appears to be changing.

Matt admitted that he is now receiving more questions about Alex's rise than ever before.

"I have to get used to that now because he's had it for much longer than me," Matt said.

"I'm probably known as Alex's brother now, as opposed to him being Matt's brother."

Matt added that he enjoys discussing Alex's progress and success.

"I love talking about my brother. It's an amazing position to be in to have that privilege to talk about how well he's doing," he said.

Dream Week Ahead at Aronimink

As the PGA Championship approaches, both brothers enter the tournament carrying momentum, confidence and growing expectations.

Alex admitted the recent run of success still feels surreal.

"I'd say my head is still spinning and I haven't woken up from the dream yet," he said.

With both Fitzpatricks arriving in excellent form, Aronimink Golf Club could now witness one of the most compelling family stories of major championship week.
