Golf: Diksha Dagar Returns To Morocco Aiming To Win Lalla Meryem Cup
India’s Diksha Dagar returned to the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco with clear intent. Diksha Dagar finished second at the same event in 2025. The two-time Ladies European Tour winner played again at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. Diksha Dagar aimed to improve on a narrow playoff defeat.
The Lalla Meryem Cup offered a €450,000 purse and a 132-player field. The tournament was scheduled over 54 holes on the Blue Course. The Order of Merit battle also tightened before the week began. South Africa’s Casandra Alexander moved back to first after another runner-up finish in Germany.

Diksha Dagar led a four-player Indian contingent for the week in Morocco. Pranavi Urs, Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi also featured in the line-up. The group looked to build form in the season’s second half. The Hero Women’s Indian Open later in 2026 remained a key target.
| Player | Group |
|---|---|
| Diksha Dagar | Lina Belmati, Emma Spitz |
| Pranavi Urs | Patricia Isabel Schmidt, Luca Thompson |
| Avani Prashanth | Maria Hernandez, Lisa Pettersson |
| Hitaashee Bakshi | Hannah Screen, Andrea Lignell |
In 2025, Diksha Dagar held a strong position before late drama. England’s Cara Gainer forced a playoff with a closing 4-under 69. Cara Gainer then won in sudden death for a first Ladies European Tour title. This week, both players had family on the bag for support.
Diksha Dagar again worked with father Colonel Narender Dagar as caddie and guide. Cara Gainer changed caddie plans after the 2025 win. Cara Gainer had a fiancé on the bag last year. For this edition, Cara Gainer’s father took over the caddie role in Morocco.
Morocco’s main home focus fell on Maha Haddioui during the tournament week. Maha Haddioui made a 14th start at the event. Maha Haddioui also competed at two Olympic Games. With local backing expected again, Maha Haddioui looked to deliver a solid performance on home soil.
