Gurugram, March 24: The build-up to the Hero Indian Open 2026 got underway in style as Eugenio Chacarra clinched the Hero Shot Challenge at the DLF Golf and Country Club, setting the tone ahead of the US$ 2.55 million showpiece event on the DP World Tour.

The defending champion from Spain delivered a composed performance in the fast-paced, fan-friendly contest, signalling strong intent as he prepares to defend his title later this week.

Star-Studded Contest at the Ninth Green

The exhibition-style contest was held at the ninth green, where spectators gathered in large numbers to enjoy the unique format.

Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, joined the field alongside leading international and Indian players, adding a special touch to the event.

Rayhan Thomas, Hero MotoCorp Brand Ambassador and one of India's rising stars, finished as the runner-up, continuing his impressive run in front of home fans.

Knockout Format Tests Precision

A total of 10 players competed in a knockout-style format designed to test precision and composure under pressure.

Opening Round:

Players hit from 90 yards, with 60 seconds to play up to nine shots. Points were awarded based on proximity to the flag.

Semi-Finals:

Distance increased to 100 yards, with no time limit. Players needed six shots to qualify for scoring.

Final:

The ultimate test came from 110 yards, again with no time constraint, where accuracy proved decisive.

Thomas produced a standout moment early on, recording the first perfect 100-point shot in the opening round.

Prize Money and Key Results

Chacarra's victory earned him a US$4000 winner's prize, while Thomas took home US$2000 for finishing second.
