Khushi Khanijau carded 3-under 68 to lead the Noida round in the sixth leg of the Hero WPG Tour, ahead of Shweta Mansingh and amateur Guntas K Sandhu. The field saw several sub-par rounds as play continues into round two.

Only three players broke par on day one. Shweta shot 2-under 69 with steady play. Amateur Guntas also returned 69. Four golfers posted even-par 71. They were Ridhima Dilawari, Smriti Bhargav, Jasmine Shekar and amateur Alysha Dutt.

Khushi opened with back-to-back birdies. She added another birdie at the fourth. Bogeys at the fifth and ninth slowed her move. She turned at 1-under. On the back nine, she birdied 10th and 12th. She then made pars on every remaining hole.

Shweta made three birdies and two bogeys early. That left her 1-under for the front nine. She then played a calm back nine. She birdied the 16th and parred every other hole. Guntas birdied the third, 10th and 12th. Her lone bogey came at 14th.

Two players signed for 72. They were Vidhatri Urs and Saanvi Somu. They joined a large group in tied eighth place. That group also featured Amandeep Drall. She is a former Hero Women's Indian Open runner-up. Amateurs included Yaalisai Verma and three others.

The amateur names in that group were Aradhana Manikandan, Anuradha Chaudhuri and Ananya Datar. Both Tvesa Malik and Neha Tripathi shot 73. They shared tied 15th after round one. The field now turns to round two. Players will look to catch leader Khushi.
