Pune Hosts The 11th Golf & Turf Summit Focusing On Sustainability

The Golf & Turf Summit in Pune brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss advancements in turf management and sustainability practices, featuring workshops and panel discussions aimed at enhancing professional growth.

The 11th Golf & Turf Summit wrapped up at the scenic Oxford Golf Resort in Pune, marked by the fusion of competitive golf, insightful discussions, and workshops aimed at enhancing turf management.

This gathering saw the convergence of real estate magnates, industry veterans, and high-ranking government officials, emphasizing the unison and professional advancement within the circles of golf and turf management.

The event was notably graced by Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth (AVSM), Chief of the Southern Command of the Indian Army, and a keen golfer, who performed the ceremonial tee-off.

His participation, along with notable figures like GIA President and Oxford Group Chairman Anirudha Seolekar, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Kailash Shinde (IAS), and MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. S.K. Mukherjee, added prestige and underscored the significance of golf in fostering leadership and camaraderie among professionals.

A highlight of the summit was the in-depth workshop directed at Greens Section members, which attracted turf care experts from across the nation. They gained invaluable insights into turf management from leading experts, including acclaimed agronomist Brad Revill of BRT Agronomy, who addressed the workshop virtually. This session was instrumental in broadening participants' knowledge and enhancing their expertise in turf care.

The summit also featured engaging panel discussions, including one on 'Enhancing Sustainability Practices on the Golf Course,' moderated by Prateek Shah, superintendent of the Hyderabad Golf Association. Esteemed panelists like Andrew Harvey Johnston, Gareth Knight, Clinton Southorn, and Dr. R.P. Singh shared their perspectives, enriching the dialogue on sustainable practices in golf course management.

Further complementing the day's activities were sessions led by renowned figures in the field. Bruce Williams discussed '50 Years of Tips, Tricks, and Lessons Learned,' while P N Nagabhushan delved into 'Factors Affecting Nutrients Absorption for Turf,' offering a research-based exploration into turf health. The summit concluded with a focused discussion on financial sustainability in golf club management, inviting club owners to explore revenue maximization and cost control.

The dual aspects of the summit — the golf tournament and the educational sessions — collectively underscored a commitment to elevating the standards of golf and turf management in India. It facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and practical strategies among attendees, reinforcing the event's crucial role as a platform for professional growth and networking in the industry.
