Golfing legends standby 'disgraced' Tiger Woods

By Super Admin

New York, Dec 14(ANI): Golfing legends have come forward as a pillar of support to disgraced American golfer Tiger Woods, following revelations of his alleged infidelities.

They have also supported Woods' decision to take a break away from the sport to sort out matters with his wife Elin Nordegren.

"It's great that he's going to put his family first and work things out. Golf will always be there. He wants to make sure his marriage is right. We'll sure miss him on the Tour." The Mirror quoted Steve Stricker, fellow American golfer, as saying.

Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam said: "It's tragic. I think this whole thing is tragic. I am in touch with his wife Elin now and then. Me and my husband Mike have been out dining with Elin and Tiger on a few occasions."

Another American golfer John Daly said that he had advised Woods that he should have come out a lot earlier and told the truth, got it all out.

"They always say there is no one bigger in golf than the game itself. But Tiger is," Daly said.

According to reports, Woods can take his break from golf safe in the knowledge that his place at the top of the rankings will be preserved for at least a year.

He currently has an average of nearly seven points better than his closest rival, fellow American Phil Mickelson, and having had seven victories this year after returning from knee surgery. He will not start losing points heavily for another 12 months. (ANI)
