A website -- www.worldcupcricket.co.in -- which is the result of 20 days of painstaking efforts by young website and software developers led by Ruchi-Rajesh Dixit was launched here today ahead of the quadrennial showpiece event of cricket in the Carribeans.
Among other features, the website offers cricket fans an opportunity to sing best of luck to their favourite team and stars limbering up for the battle royale in the spicy Carribean island.
''Varanasi being the nucleus of Bhojpuri culture, we have included a special segment Dil Kehta Hai, through which local cricket fans can pour their heart out to their stars in the most indigenous manner,'' said Ruchi-Rajesh Dixit, the promoters of Rangoli Creations, which has developed the website.
''Any netizen who logs on to the site has the option of musically greeting his favourite stars by appending his own Bhojpuri baritones to the text message and his photograph or else adding the rustic numbers belted out by Bhojpuri stars like Manoj Tiwari and Kalpana,'' the duo maintained.
Besides, Bhojpuri numbers, cricket savy net users can also greet their stars with English and Hindi numbers of their choice.
The young minds in the past have successfully used the boundless power of I'net in connecting people during the 2001 WTC attacks, Holi and Deepawali, besides mobilising public voice for the cause of water conservation.
