Memphis Grizzlies Finalise $240 Million Extension For Jaren Jackson Jr. Through 2029-30 Season

The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a five-year, $240 million contract extension with Jaren Jackson Jr., keeping him under contract until the 2029-30 season. This move follows significant offseason changes for the team.

The Memphis Grizzlies have secured Jaren Jackson Jr. with a five-year, $240 million contract extension, as reported by ESPN. This agreement ensures the All-Star forward remains with the team until the 2029-30 season, including a player option for the final year. The announcement followed closely after the NBA's free agency negotiation window opened, although no deals can be finalized until July 6.

Jackson has consistently performed well since being drafted fourth overall in 2018. Last season, he made his second All-Star appearance, averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.53 blocks per game. Over his career with Memphis, he has averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 407 games.

Grizzlies Sign Jaren Jackson Jr. to Extension

The Grizzlies are making strategic roster adjustments this offseason. They recently traded Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, and several draft picks. To accommodate Jackson's extension financially, Memphis plans to trade Anthony to another team.

In addition to Jackson's extension, Memphis has also agreed to a three-year, $52.5 million contract extension with Santi Aldama. These moves highlight the team's commitment to building a strong roster for future seasons.

Jackson will continue to play alongside Ja Morant, another key player for the Grizzlies who is under contract through the 2027-28 season. This partnership is central to Memphis's strategy as they aim to remain competitive in the league.

The offseason has been eventful for Memphis beyond player contracts and trades. The team underwent a coaching change shortly before last season concluded. These developments indicate a period of transition and strategic planning for the Grizzlies as they prepare for upcoming challenges.

As Memphis continues to refine its roster and management structure, these moves reflect their dedication to maintaining competitiveness in the NBA landscape while securing key players like Jackson and Morant for future success.
