Gujarat bag U-19 Vinoo Mankad trophy along with Punjab

Ahmedabad, Nov 15 (UNI) Gujarat and Punjab were declared joint winners by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the Vinoo Mankad all-India U-19 trophy today, being played at Agartala in Tripura.

Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) president Narahari Amin announced Rs 3 lakh cash prize for the team led by Priyank Panchal.

After overnight showers washed out the finals between Gujarat and Punjab, a decision was made to announce both the teams as joint winners. An elated Amin announced the cash prize of Rs 3 lakh for the U-19 team.

Congratulating the team coach Chetan Makda by phone on the victory, Amin said it is the first time that Gujarat team won the all-india U-19 championship.

The team will leave Agartala tomorrow for Kolkata and arrive here in the evening at around 1800 hrs, said GCA sources.
