Renowned gymnast Oksana Chusovitina, celebrated for her unprecedented eight Olympic appearances, is preparing for a remarkable return to competition at the age of 49. This decision follows her withdrawal from the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers due to an injury.
In May 2024, during a training session for the Asian Gymnastics Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Chusovitina sustained an injury on the floor exercise. This setback forced her to withdraw from the competition.

It served as her final opportunity to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Expressing her disappointment, she shared on Instagram, "I will not be able to take part and I am very upset as I have been preparing for this competition for a long time."
Chusovitina's gymnastics career spans over three decades, during which she has represented the Unified Team, Germany, and Uzbekistan in various international competitions. Her journey is marked by numerous accolades.
This includes a team gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and a silver medal on vault at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Notably, she holds the record as the oldest female gymnast to compete in the Olympics, a testament to her enduring dedication to the sport.
Despite the recent injury and the missed opportunity to compete in Paris, Chusovitina remains undeterred. She has announced plans to continue training with the aim of returning to competitive gymnastics.
Her unwavering commitment and passion for the sport continue to inspire athletes and fans worldwide. As she sets her sights on future competitions, the gymnastics community eagerly anticipates witnessing the Uzbek talent Chusovitina one more time.
