London, Feb.15 (ANI): Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is as great as the all-conquering Grand Prix legend Michael Schumacher, according to just-retired racing champ David Coulthard.
Coulthard, who won 13 Grand Prixs, suffered defeats at the hands of both Schumacher and Hamilton. Now set to take up a job with the BBC F1 TV commentary team, Coulthard reckons that Hamilton, 24, is the Schumacher of the modern racing era.
"Lewis lost the title in 2008 after throwing away a seven-point lead. But he came back with a bang last year and his two years in F1 have been simply amazing. He is just dripping with ability. He is a superb performer and he will only get better. With the benefit of hindsight it was good he didn't win the championship in his first year as it just made the second season all that more special," the Daily Express quoted Coulthard, as saying.
"There is no doubt Lewis is a class act. He will handle all the pressure his own way. I believe he will always manage to be quite controlled. He is without doubt the Michael Schumacher of today, the benchmark against whom every other driver has to be measured," he added. (ANI)
