Lewis Hamilton has expressed strong support for Ferrari's team principal, Fred Vasseur, despite the team's slow start in 2025. Ferrari currently holds second place in the constructors' championship after nine races, with Charles Leclerc securing all three of their podium finishes. Hamilton, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes, believes Vasseur is the right person to lead them to success.
Hamilton has been vocal about his admiration for Vasseur, stating, "I love working with Fred. Fred's the main reason I'm in this team and got the opportunity to be here, which I'm forever grateful for." He emphasised that they are working hard together and that he wants Vasseur to remain with the team. Hamilton is committed to collaborating with both the team and Vasseur to achieve their goals.

The seven-time world champion has faced challenges adapting to Ferrari's car. His best race finish was fourth at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. He described his performance at the Spanish Grand Prix as his worst race balance-wise. Despite these hurdles, Hamilton remains optimistic about future improvements and is eager to contribute to the team's success.
Reports in Italian newspapers suggested Ferrari might replace Vasseur, but Hamilton dismissed these claims as nonsense. He stated, "Most people don't know what's going on in the background... I don't think that's on the cards as far as I'm aware and it's certainly not something I would be supportive of." Hamilton stressed that integrating new personnel takes time and can have a significant impact.
Vasseur joined Ferrari in 2023 and led them close to winning their first constructors' title since 2008 last season. They finished just 16 points behind McLaren. However, this year McLaren has pulled ahead by 197 points due to strong performances from Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Hamilton acknowledged his struggles in adapting to Ferrari's car, which was developed with Leclerc's input over several years. He is currently one place and 23 points behind Leclerc in the drivers' championship. Despite these challenges, Hamilton remains determined to improve performance and bring more upgrades to the car.
"It's been a whirlwind of a year," Hamilton said. "Everything outside the race track is going amazing, and I am working as hard as I can to make sure that's reflected in the results." He hopes for further upgrades soon after an initial one in Bahrain.
As Hamilton continues his journey with Ferrari, he remains focused on achieving success alongside Vasseur. His commitment to working closely with the team underscores his belief that they can reach new heights together.
