Hamilton breaks Red Bull 'qualifying domination' to grab Canadian GP pole

By Super Admin

Montreal, June 12(ANI): McLaren Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has broken Red Bull team's domination of qualifying this year to take the pole position in a thrilling session for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix.

Hamilton snatched pole from Mark Webber in the final lap of the Montreal street circuit to end Red Bull's run of seven consecutive poles this season.

Talking about the pole, Hamilton said: "It's a bit overwhelming really. When the guys told me I had got pole, it reminded me of my first win and my first pole here in 2007."

Webber's team-mate Sebastian Vettel came in third ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso (fourth) and McLaren's Jenson Button (fifth).

Force India's Vitantonio Liuzzi produced his best qualifying of the year to take sixth ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa, Robert Kubica, Adrian Sutil and Mercedes' Nico Rosberg, Timesonline reports.

At the end of Q2, Michael Schumacher was the day's biggest casualty as he failed to make it into the top 10 for the first time this season.

The seven-time champion will start a lowly 13th in his Mercedes behind the Williams duo of Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hulkenberg. (ANI)
