Hamza triumphs in BMC Gold Race

Watford, UK, Jul 3 (UNI) Chatholi Hamza of India bounced back to win first place in the 1500m of the BMC Gold race here with a time of 3:40.90s.

He beat Steve Davies (3:45.92s) of Belgrave and Daniel Pettit (3:48.27s) of Newham and Essex Beagles by a big margin yesterday.

The Indian is confident of achieving Olympic qualification in Stockholm on July 8.

In the men's 800m, Sajeesh Joseph clocked 1:48.25s to clinch the gold beating Tim Bayley (1:49.2s) of Belgrave and Chris Moss (1:49.39s) of Cardiff.

Sinimole Paulose won the women's 800m with a time of 2:03.87s beating Rachael Ogden (2:05.97s) of Worthing and Ingvill Makestad (2:06.92s) of Norway.

It has been over a month since Indian athletes are training at Tessa Sanderson's Newham Sports Academy at Newham, the host borough of the 2012 London Olympics.

Dr. Nikolai, coach of the Indian athletic team has expressed satisfaction over the training and performances in the competition.

The Indian athletes will now move to Stockholm for the Sollentuna Grand Prix on July 8.
