Hardikar, Deodhar, Sabdu, Ghatpande move into second round

Pune, Dec 22 (UNI) Shubhankar Hardikar and Arya Deodhar scraped past Abhishek Machale and Eeshan Pande in the Boys under 8 event, today to move into the second round of the Champion Sports Trophy 2007 Pune District Junior Selection Tennis Tournament at the Nav Sahayadri Tennis complex here.

In the boys under 12 events Mahesh Ladkat and Krishna Upadhya recorded hard fought 6-4 wins over Nishant Purswami, Neeraj Pardeshi, Akshy Paranjpe and Vimal Dev to also move into the second round.

The tournament being played in the three age groups of under 10, 12 and 14 in the junior boys and girls categories has attracted over 250 entries in all the groups.

Following are some of today's results: First round: Boys Under 8: Shubhankar Hardikar bt Abhishek Machale 6-5(7-3), Arya Deodhar bt Eeshan Pande 6-4, Ojas Sabdu bt Sangram Mane 6-0, Atharva Ghatpande bt Ajay Gunemane 6-4.

Boys Under 10: Shreyans Gedam bt Kartik Pawar 6-0, Anant Mishra bt Anant Shah 6-0, Ranvir Chaphekar bt Vaibhav Agarwal 6-3.

Boys Under 12: Mahesh Ladkat bt Abhishek Panchal 6-4, Yash Walawalkar bt Rohan Dholepatil 6-1, Krishna Upadhya bt Karan Thakkar 6-4, Naad Patil bt Yash Boka 6-0, Siddesh Satav bt Jai Khirsagar 6-0, Nishant Purswami bt Shubhankar Shalgar 6-2, Neeraj Pardeshi bt Anuj Sabade 6-3, Akshy Paranjpe bt Divya Kulkarni 6-2, Vimal Dev bt Abhay Dhonde 6-4.
