Hargreaves to sit out England friendly against Spain

BERLIN, Feb 5 (Reuters) Owen Hargreaves will not risk his fitness by playing in England's friendly international against Spain on Wednesday, despite being named in the squad by coach Steve McCLaren.

''I won't be taking part in the match,'' midfielder Hargreaves told the Bayern Munich Web site (www.fcbayern.de). ''I just want to show my face and take part in one or two training sessions.'' Hargreaves returned for Bayern Munich on Friday to play his first match since breaking a leg in mid-September.

He came through apparently unscathed but could do nothing to prevent Bayern from slipping to a 3-0 defeat that left them 11 points off the title pace in Germany.
