“Really Like Making Jewellery”: Away From Tracks Asian Games Bronze Medalist Harita Bhadra Shares Her Reset From Athletics

Nagoya, Sep 28: For Harita Bhadra, running is about speed, discipline and pushing her limits. Away from the track, however, the 23-year-old Indian sprinter finds a different kind of rhythm in creativity.

The Asian Games bronze medallist is the founder of Dagina, a small online jewellery brand that gives her an outlet beyond athletics. For Bhadra, the venture is more than a business; it is a way to step away from the demands of training and competition and reset her mind.

"I have my own jewellery brand. It's called Dagina and Dagina means jewellery in Gujarati because I am a Gujarati Kachi," Bhadra told myKhel in an exclusive interaction.

The Mumbai-born athlete explained that her interest in jewellery-making eventually developed into a business, allowing her to pursue her creative side while maintaining her focus on athletics.

"It is just an online small business brand. I do it on Instagram because I really like making jewellery and doing something creative. I have always been into it, so then I just started a business out of it because it also gives me some independence but also time to divert my mind," she said.

That balance has become particularly valuable during a demanding year for Bhadra. After committing herself fully to athletics, she spent months competing and training, culminating in her Asian Games debut and a memorable bronze in the 200m.

Yet even as her sporting profile grows, Bhadra continues to value the space Dagina gives her away from the track.

"It also gives me some independence but also time to divert my mind," she said.
For an athlete accustomed to structured routines and relentless preparation, jewellery-making offers a complete mental change of pace.

"I can just reset and recharge myself because at that time, I am not thinking about sports. I am just doing it. My mind is completely diverted," Bhadra said.

The contrast appears to be precisely what makes the creative pursuit so meaningful. Training requires her to concentrate on every movement, every split and every race, while designing jewellery allows her to immerse herself in something entirely different.

"I don't even remember what today's session was at that time," she added.
Bhadra's journey also offers a glimpse into the personality behind the medal. Her success on the track has been built alongside academics and entrepreneurship, reflecting an athlete who has cultivated interests beyond sport.

Dagina, in particular, provides her with a personal creative identity. As her athletics career continues to develop, the jewellery brand remains her space to experiment, create, and recharge.

For Bhadra, the track may be where she competes, but creativity is where she finds her reset button.
