Haryana and Kerela annex men and women title

Jaipur, Jan 1 (UNI) Haryana and Kerela have annexed men and women title respectively in the 56th Senior National Volleyball Championship which concluded at the SMS Indoor hall here tonight.

Brilliant performance by Sube Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Jitendra Singh helped Haryana trounced Tamilnadu in straight sets 25-19, 25-21, 25-23 in only 60 minutes while last year runners up Kerela had to struggle hard for 103 minutes before beating defending champion Railways after a ding dong battle by 25-27, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-10.

Haryana who had last night defeated Services 3-1 in the semi-final, combined very well against Tamilnadu in the final today had last won this championship in 2004.

Earlier, Kerela routed Services by 3-0 and Tamilnadu prevailed over West Bengal 3-1 to bag bronze medal in men's and women's section respectively.

Rajasthan cooperative minister Nathu Singh Gurjar distributed the prizes to winners.
