Haryana earmarks Rs 28 cr for better sports facilities
Jind, Jan 11 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said his government had earmarked a sum of Rs 28.39 crore for the promotion of sports in the state so that better facilities could be provided to the players in the state.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating 11th Northern Region Handball Championship at Arjun Stadium here.
He also announced that a swimming pool would be constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh at Jind.
Mr Hooda said the Haryana Government had provided a sum of Rs three crore as award money to the sportspersons who had excelled in national and international sports meets.
He said that diet allowance for the players had also been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 100. The number of sports nurseries had also been increased from 20 to 31 besides raising their refreshment money from Rs 30 to Rs 60.
The government had also provided lifetime free bus facility to those national award winner players, he added.
