Day 1 of the Khelo India Para Games showcased the exceptional skills of seasoned star Latika Thakur from Haryana. Renowned for her international achievements, Latika, a role model in the field, dominated the women's singles quarter-finals (SU 5 category) by defeating Riddhi Thacker of Gujarat with a score of 21-11, 21-8 in a spirited match that lasted 16 minutes.
Latika's experience shone through in the gymnastics hall of the Indira Gandhi Stadium, exemplifying her prowess.

In another thrilling women's singles (SL3) category match, Neeraj from Haryana displayed top form, overcoming Sanjana Kumari from Jharkhand in three intense games with a final score of 17-21, 21-10, 21-13.
Amudha Saravanan from Tamil Nadu also demonstrated determination, securing a spot in the semi-finals by defeating Sangeeta Yadav from Uttar Pradesh convincingly with a score of 21-5, 21-5.
Despite the chilly conditions in the capital, the enthusiasm of athletes from various states participating in the inaugural Para Khelo India Games remained high. The day witnessed a total of 66 matches at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.
Tulika Jadhao from Maharashtra joined the ranks of successful athletes, claiming a semi-final spot by defeating Purnima Pandey from Uttar Pradesh in straight games.
The upcoming Para Athletics event at the JLN Stadium on December 11 will feature medal ceremonies with boxing legend Mary Kom in attendance to present the awards between 2-3 pm.
The following day, the IG Stadium will host the opening ceremony of the games and knockout round para badminton matches.
With over 1400 participants from 32 states and Union Territories, the prestigious event spans three venues in New Delhi from December 10 to 17.
