Is Neeraj Chopra parting ways with his long-time German coach, Dr Klaus Bartonietz, under whose guidance he won gold at the Tokyo Olympics and silver at the Paris Olympics? This question has surfaced as the javelin star hints at working with a new coach in a bid to raise his game to the next level.
During an interaction at the Sports University of Haryana, Neeraj indicated that he might soon work with a new coach, hinting at a desire to explore new training methods to elevate his performance.

His statements reflected an acknowledgement that while his journey under Klaus has been remarkable, there might be a need for changes in his approach. "We see many times that we are following the same plan and doing the same workout... I think it can make a difference," he said, suggesting that a new direction in his training could push him beyond his current limits.
Meanwhile, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has confirmed to Circle of Sport, that the body is actively searching for a new coach for Neeraj Chopra. AFI President, Dr Adille Sumariwalla, stated that this decision was not a sudden move but one that even Dr Klaus himself had supported.
He revealed that Klaus had expressed his intention to step down, citing personal reasons, including age and family commitments. "He told us that he had done the best he could for Neeraj," said Sumariwalla.
Klaus, a biomechanics expert, had been instrumental in shaping Neeraj's technique, helping him recover from an elbow injury in 2018 and guiding him to multiple podium finishes at both the Olympic Games and World Championships. Despite these successes, Neeraj appears to be seeking new ways to push past the elusive 90m mark-a milestone he has yet to achieve.
As AFI continues its search for a coach who can help Neeraj reach new heights, one thing is clear: The foundation laid by Bartonietz Klaus will forever remain a cornerstone of the Indian star's illustrious career. However, the future might see Neeraj collaborating with new expertise to continue his upward trajectory.
