Hayden to wear protective boot cap for his broken toe

Melbourne, Mar 1 (UNI) Australia's big-shouldered opener Mathew Hayden will wear a protective boot cap on his broken toe while batting in this month's World Cup.

A podiatrist has designed the cap which will be used to protect Hayden's broken toe, an injury which he sustained in last week's one-day game against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Though his toe is rapped in a protective brace, Hayden is confident that he will be ready for his side's first group game against Scotland on March 14.

''My best-case scenario is to be back for the warm-up games and my worst-case scenario is to be back just for the first (group) game,'' a optimistic Hayden told Channel seven.
