Hero's welcome awaits World Twenty20 champions

Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) A 'spectacular and rousing' welcome awaits the victorious Indian team, that created history by winning the inaugural Twenty20 cricket World Cup at Johannesburg, when they land here tomorrow.

The team, led by dashing wicket keeper-batsman M S Dhoni, will arrive at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 0815 hrs.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and deputy chief minister R R Patil will welcome the team, which defeated Pakistan by five runs in a nail biting finish yesterday. Thousands of cricket fans are expected to throng the airport to accord a hero's welcome to the 'youthful' team.

A victory procession will be taken out from the airport to the Wankhede stadium in South Mumbai. The 16-member team and the support staff will leave the airport for the stadium in a decorated open deck bus, accompanied by BCCI officials in their cars. All along the route, people will line up to cheer the cricketers.

Union Agriculture Minister and BCCI chief Sharad Pawar will felicitate the team. Later, captain Dhoni will address a press conference.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra government has announced a cash prize of Rs ten lakh each to Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar for being an integral part of the triumphant team.
