Haryana, September 21: The Gayatri Devi Goenka Memorial Shooting Championship, the inaugural spectacle of its kind hosted by GD Goenka University, underscores the educational institution's steadfast dedication to fostering athletic excellence and recognizing the remarkably skilled shooters hailing from diverse parts of India.
Scheduled to commence from September 26 to September 29, 2023, at the GD Goenka Shooting Range that boasts 25 professional lanes, this championship has the potential to earn a distinguished national recognition among shooting contests and will utilize the Electronic Scoring Target System (EST).

This championship endeavors to cultivate a commitment to sportsmanship while developing the skills of both emerging and established shooters. With an anticipated turnout of more than 500 competitors from across India, this event is set to be a gloriously grand display, celebrating the fervor and precision of shooters who have mastered their craft.
In addition, the championship offers an opportunity to honor the important legacy of Abhinav Bindra, the first Indian to clinch an individual Olympic gold medal.
The GD Goenka Shooting Range, inaugurated in Bindra's honor in 2022, has been instrumental in inspiring upcoming shooters by providing them with superior facilities and specialist guidance to hone their skills.
During the opening ceremony, Bindra commented, “I applaud GD Goenka for establishing these facilities and their focus on promoting sports across their educational establishments. I am confident that while the students may secure numerous tournament victories, their biggest achievement will be assimilating the values that sports impart.”
