Nicolai Hojgaard surged to a three-shot lead at the DP World Tour Championship midway through the event. He achieved this with an impressive second-round score of 65, featuring an eagle and five birdies without any bogeys. This performance moved him to 12-under, surpassing Michael Kim, who had led initially. Rory McIlroy remains in contention, trailing by three shots after scoring a three-under 69.

McIlroy's round was a mix of six birdies and three bogeys, as he struggled to find consistency in his approach play. Despite these challenges, he managed to sink crucial putts that kept him in the race for the title. The reigning champion is part of a group of five players tied at nine-under.

Justin Rose and Shane Lowry are also tied for second place alongside McIlroy. Rose briefly held the lead after sinking a remarkable 65-foot putt among five birdies in his first seven holes. He later saved par with another long putt on the 14th hole, showcasing his putting prowess.
