Home team up against JCT Academy in inaugural Governor's Gold Cup

Gangtok, Oct 27 (UNI) Local favourites Sikkim Football Association (SFA) XI and JCT Academy, Phagwara, will be locking horns in the inaugural match of the 29th All India Governor's Gold Cup football tournament today at Paljor Stadium.

Governor Sudrashan Agarwal will declare the premier tournament open during its inaugural ceremony.

The tournament, organized by the Sikkim Football Association, will witness the participation of 16 teams, including six international clubs from the neighbouring Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

The opener between SFA XI and JCT Academy is expected to a thrilling encounter. Comprising homegrown talents, SFA XI is banking on home support while JCT Academy is still an unknown side to the local crowds.

In a bid to encourage and cheer the home team, SFA has declared the hillside gallery of the stadium free for school students.

Finals of the knockout tournament will be held on November 7.
