Una, Oct 22 (UNI) The fifth wicket partnership between Priyanka and Anku helped Himachal Pradesh women cricket team to avert a certain defeat after they had been reduced to 18 for four in their second innings after conceding 192 run lead to Punjab in the first innings.
The two frustated the Punjab bowlers by sharing a 15 run partnership in 40 overs and saw the day off with defensive strokes.
Priyanka remained unbeaten at 21 in 178 balls and Anku at two in 116 balls at the end of the three-day match here.
Punjab had declared their first inning at 274 for six with Anurit scoring a well compiled 100 run and significant contributions by Gurdeep (69) and Richa (57) after their bowlers had bundled out Himachal for 82 runs in 54.2 overs.
In the second innings, Himachal were at point reeling at 18 runs for the loss of four wickets after 27 overs before Priyanka and Anku's fifth wicket stand of 15 runs in 40 overs saved the match for the hosts.
