Hyderabad Academy suffered second defeat

Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) Hyderabad Hockey Academy suffered their second successive defeat as they lost to Cheema Hockey Acdemy of Batala outplayed Hyderabad Hockey Academy by 4-0 in a pool B fixture of the first Administrator's Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament being organised by the Chandigarh Sports Department at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here tonight.

Cheema Academy fought with a redoubled vigour in the second half after the first half produced no goal. The Batala Academy fired four goals without reply. Ritesh scored two in the 58th and 66th minutes.

Harpal had opened the account for the winners lead in the 54th minute and Jatinder Singh scored his team's third goal in the 63rd minute.

Hyderabad Hockey Academy were yesterday trounced by hosts Chandigarh Hockey Academy by 16-0 With two defeats Hyderabad are out of the contention for the title. With the withdrawal by Kurukshetra SAI Academy only three teams were left in the fray from pool B.

In a pool A match Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy of Amritsar staged a rally to down Sukhchain Hockey Academy of Faridkot by a 4-1 margin.

Sukhchain Academy fired the first salvo in the 37th minute through Karamjit Singh. After wasting four penalty corners, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Acadmey converted their fifth penalty corner through Harmandeep Singh in the 46th minute to restore parity. Harmandeep converted another penalty corner in the 48th minute to give his team the lead. Latrer Ramandeep Singh (55th) and Lovedeep (63rd) contributed one goal each to ensure a clear win for MRS Academy in a Pool A match.
