Hyderabad on course of outright win against Kerala

Chennai, Oct 2 (UNI) Having secured a sizeable first innings lead and after claiming five second innings wickets, Hyderabad were on course for an outright win against Kerala at close on the second day of the four day Inter State South Zone Under-22 cricket match for the P Ramachandra Rao Trophy here today.

Resuming at 92 for one, Hyderabad, replying to Kerala's 124, were all out for 263 in 83.3 overs. Aksanth Reddy hit 94, while Ravi Teja (29) and Teja Ganesh (45) made useful contributions.

Hyderabad, who gained 139 run lead, reduced Kerala to 97 for five in the second essay. With two days remaining, Hyderabad was all set to bag the remaining five wickets for an ouright victory on the third day tomorrow.

In another match, Andhra restricted Karnataka (overnight 305 for four) to 372 all out and then scored 222 for three in their first innings.

In the other match, Tamil Nadu, resuming at 258 for five, rode on Maruthi Raghav's 120 to score an imposing 406 in 129.5 overs and reduced Goa to 103 for seven at close on the second day. Off spinner R Ashwin applied the brakes claiming five wickets.

Brief Scores: Kerala 124 and 97 for five in 35 overs Vs Hyderabad 263 all out in 83.3 overs (Akshath Reddy 94, DB Ravi Teja 29, Teja Ganesh 45, M P Manu 2 for 58, M E Sanuth 2 for 83, Shrijith 4 for 48).

Karnataka 372 all out in 121.3 overs (K B Pawan 166, Ganesh Satish 107, D Sivakumar 4 for 59) vs Andhra 222 for 3 in 57.2 overs (V Sandeep 64, A G Pradeep 63, B Sumanth 57 batting, S L Akshay 2 for 43).

Tamil Nadu 406 all out in 129.5 overs (L Suryapprakash 85, Abhinav Mukund 56, V Maaruthi Raghav 120, KH Gopinath 42, Badal Singh 6 for 136) vs Goa 103 for 7 in 48 overs (Rohit Asnodkar 24 batting, R Ashwin 5 for 31).
