Hyderabad Polo Season 2008 to begin on Sept 7

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) President Body Guards (PBG), Artillery Centre in Nasik, 61st Cavalry and Andhra Pradesh Riding Club (APRC) will be among the teams to participate in the Hyderabad Polo Season 2008, beginning here on September 7.

The Polo season 2008, to be organised by the Bison Riding and Polo Institute (BRPI), would comprise of four tournaments -- AP Tourism Trophy, Army Commander Trophy, Prince of Berar Cup and Exhibition match in memory of polo player late Prathik N, who died in February this year.

AP Tourism Trophy will be held from September 7 to 10 while Army Commander Trophy will be organised from September 12 to 14 and Prince of Berar Cup from September 16 to 19. The exhibition match would be held on September 21.

This year eight, Six and Four goal handicap tournaments will be held. The prizes include Rupees One Lac for the eight goal tournament, Rupees Thirty Thousand for six goal and Rupees Twenty Thousand for the four goal tournament, a press release here said. The major sponsor of the polo season this year are the Ministry of Tourism, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Taj Krishna, who are the hospitality partner.
