I am not willing to coach Indian team: Jagbir

By Staff

New Delhi, Jul 29 (UNI) Former Olympian Jagbir Singh today dismissed reports that he had been approached by the IHF ad-hoc committee for the job of national hockey coach.

Talking to UNI on the sidelines of a function here, Jagbir said,''I would not like to comment on this. This is pure speculation. However if the offer comes, then also I will reject it for personal reasons.'' Jagbir, however, refused to speculate who will take the post which has been lying vacant ever since Joachim Carvalho resigned after India failed to make it to Beijing.

''It won't be fair on my part if I come out with any name. There will be an Olympic committee meeting on July 31 on this issue. A decision will be taken after that,'' he said.

When asked about the chances of AK Bansal, who coached the junior team to the Asia Cup title Jagbir said,''''Bansal has done well with the junior team. But senior team is a totally different matter.'' UNI AB RKM AS1842
