IAF celebrating Platinum Jubilee
Shillong, Mar 2(UNI) Celebrating its platinum Jubilee this year, Indian Air force (IAF) had conducted a motor cycle expedition from Kolkata to Shillong.
The expedition was flagged off from Kolkata on February 24 by Air Marshal F H Major, AOC-in-C EAC and CAS designated, which ended at Upper shillong today.
The expedition was flagged in at HQ EAC here today by Air Vice Marshal S Swaminathan AVSM VSM SMSO EAC.
Air Vice-Marshal who spoke briefly on the occasion said that apart from the expedition this would also help promote motor sporting activities. He expressed happiness that this expedition reached its destination without facing any hardship.
The expedition comprised seven air warriors and one officer of Army. The expedition was led by WG Cdr R K Das. It covered a distance of 1400 km over a period of five days. The route followed was Kolkata-Malda-Bagdogra-Hashimhara-Guwahati and Shillong.
The motorcycles for the expedition were sponsored by Hero Honda Motorcycles.
