Imran demands legal action against 'Traitor' Sarfaraz

London, Jun 6 (UNI) Former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan has strongly demanded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take legal action against fomer pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz for his involvement in tarnishing the national side's image.

Speaking after the disclosure of reports suggesting that Pakistan's late coach Bob Woolmer was not murdered, instead he died of natural causes, a dejected Imran felt sorry for the entire Pakistan World Cup squad who had been subjected to fingerprinting, DNA tests and allegations of match-fixing.

''In my opinion the PCB should sue for defamation against Sarfaraz. If I was the Pakistan captain I would have asked for damages. They should sue Sarfraz Nawaz, because he was the first one to raise allegations of the Pakistan team's involvement with bookies,''Imran told 'The Guardian'.

After Woolmer's death, Sarfraz had alleged that Pakistan team's connection with the match fixing mafia was the reason behind the 58-year-old Englishman's death and added that Pakistan's World Cup games were fixed.

He also came hard on Mark Shield's men for the way they handled the entire saga and held them equally responsible.

''Pakistan cricket really took a bashing after there was a completely wrong diagnosis of Woolmer's death.

''The team became suspects. At first everyone had assumed it was a natural death. When the Pakistan media manager saw Woolmer's body he thought it was a straightforward case of natural death.

The Jamaican police should have had more evidence before they raised suspicions of murder,'' Imran said.
